Hebrews 7:23-25
“The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
Hebrews 7:23-25 ESV
That is an amazing truth. An amazing reality. Don’t miss it. So, first, Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through him. So that’s a summary of all kinds of verses right before this in Hebrews chapter seven talking about that Jesus is our great high priest who has paid the price for our sins. And He is able to save us completely. Like, totally saved from our sins. When we come to God through Jesus, we are completely saved. So we could stop there, and it’d be awesome. But then it even goes on. Jesus lives to make intercession for you and I. He is dispensing the blessings of God in our lives. But not just that, this picture of Jesus’s work of intercession at the Father’s right hand means that He is always working for our good. That He is always in the midst of our struggles. He is interceding for our perseverance in the midst of our temptations, He is interceding for our power, and our ability to overcome temptation.
I think about when I intercede for someone, that’s me saying I want to pray for that person, I want to represent that person before God and ask for his blessing. So, the picture we have of Jesus right now and always, this is what he’s doing. He is dispensing the blessings of God in our lives. The grace, the strength, the mercy that we need at every point in our lives. He’s dispensing it as our intercessor. He’s making it possible for us to have all that God has is available to us at every moment through Jesus our intercessor. This is awesome truth. The more we learn of God’s Word and come to an understanding of Who God is, what He is doing, and all that He has planned for those that love Him, the more we see an unveiling of His glory upon glory and the more we recognize God's grace upon grace that is daily being showered upon all His blood-bought children. Our risen, ascended, and glorified Saviour has saved us to the uttermost. The more we learn of God's Word and the wonderful covenant relationship that He has with His Church, the more we discover His showers of blessing and abundant privileges raining down upon our heads and come to an understanding of Who God is, what He is doing, and all that He has planned for those that love Him. The more we see an unveiling of His glory upon glory, the more we recognize God's grace upon grace that is daily being showered upon all His blood-bought children. Surely, we should love to the uttermost the One Who has saved us to the uttermost!!!
Father thank You for this day and Your Son Jesus Who has saved and sanctified us to the uttermost and is daily interceding for us. Lord let Your abundant blessings flow over my friend and family today. Lord we ask for help in all these needs. We ask for strength, we ask for peace, we ask for wisdom. God, we ask for grace, we ask for confidence, we ask for courage. We ask for hope, we ask for the ability to endure in this way or that way. Lord we ask for understanding in making this or that decision. Lord we pray that You would make us a people of prayer who are asking all the time for these things. Lord we have not because we ask not so let that not that be true in our lives. Lord may we ask continually knowing that we have an intercessor who is ready to provide us with everything we need. Oh, we praise you Lord Jesus, the One who is able to save us completely. And the One who lives to intercede for us. Lord use my friend to be someone’s blessing today. Daddy we love you amen. Be a blessing. Love ya !!
