Treasured Wisdom

‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭8

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As we go through trials we are faced with the choice to live as if God is good, active, and present or to act as if He isn't hearing us, or caring about us, and able to bring good out of this struggle. James reminds his readers in the first paragraph of his letter that we can trust that our trials will add up to joy because as we count on God through them our confidence in Him is strengthened and God will bring us to completion through them. He will make us truly perfect, able perfectly to receive His life and love for us. We will be filled with His fullness, lacking in nothing.

If a Christian does not possess wisdom, God will give it to him. Testing always requires special wisdom to cope with trials beyond our ability to manage. Trials should improve our prayer life.

James is making the point that we don't have to be perplexed by trials and try to face it with our own natural, fallible wisdom. Instead, James says that if we find ourselves in a trial and lack spiritual insight, our reflex should be to go to our Father and ask Him for His wisdom, which is the practical application of His Word to everyday situations.

Wisdom is the insight into the true nature of things. Knowledge is the mental possession of powers of perceiving objects. Wisdom is the power of right reasoning concerning them and forming right decisions accordingly.

Wisdom is the ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding. Wisdom is the art of being successful, of forming the correct plan to gain the desired results. Its seat is the heart, the centre of moral and intellectual decision.

To seek wisdom from God with faith means to approach Him confidently, believing that He is able and willing to provide us with the wisdom we seek. It requires trusting in God’s character, knowing that He is a loving and generous God who desires to give good gifts to His children. Faith involves surrendering our own understanding and relying on His infinite wisdom to guide us in the right direction.

When we come to God with faith, we are acknowledging our dependence on Him and recognizing that He is the ultimate source of wisdom. This kind of faith is not wavering or uncertain, but steadfast and unwavering in the belief that God will answer our prayers and give us the wisdom we need.

It involves a deep sense of trust in God’s ability to provide for us and lead us on the right path. We open ourselves up to receive divine guidance and insight that surpasses human understanding by seeking wisdom from God with faith.

Embrace the wisdom from above in all aspects of your life as you navigate the challenges of our modern world. Just as you seek guidance from mentors at work and rely on the support of family, let God’s wisdom be your compass.

Make decisions with a firm belief in His guidance, without second-guessing. Will you be courageous enough to seek divine wisdom wholeheartedly, without hesitation, in every choice you make?

So often we act out of ignorance and face grave consequences for our actions. God longs to grant us spiritual wisdom, that not only helps us make wise choices, but also gives us the ability to act and react with grace and wisdom.

Before we face each day, before we face challenging situations, before we make challenging decisions, let's seek God's face and ask for His gift of wisdom!!!

Father, thank You for this day and for the strength to walk in it. Let Your abundant blessings rain down from Your storehouse upon my friend and family today. Lord, help us to learn the lessons that You would teach us in life, especially during those times of sadness and suffering, and give us the wisdom we need so that we do not waste the opportunities, knowing that the testing of my faith produces steadfastness. May we always approach Your throne of grace in faith and without doubting. Lord, use us to be a bold witness of Your mercy and grace to all today.

Father,  we love You. Amen !
