Stirred But Never Shaken

Psalms‬ 62:1-2

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”Psalms‬ 62:1-2‬ NIV‬‬

Life is filled with ups and downs. But sometimes, the hardest place to be is in between. Maybe you're waiting for the doctor to call with test results or for God to heal or open a new opportunity. When change doesn't happen as quickly as we think it should, we start to wonder if the universe is conspiring against us.

The safest place to be when we feel like we're under siege is waiting with the Lord. He has all power and all control. And when we choose to wait with God, rather than going at it alone, we experience His power and presence like never before.

Few seasons of life draw our hearts closer to God than when we're waiting. Our ears are more alert to God's voice when we're desperate to hear from Him. Our eyes are quicker to recognize His power and provision when we've been looking for Him to move.

There are those seasons in our lives where the metal of our being is tested to its limits, where the fiber of our being is stretched to its breaking point. Yes those seasons come. But more often than not, it is just the day to day living that tries us the most.

Culture and society has placed on us so many demands that many of us are not certain as to whether or not we are coming or going. It is the pace of day to day living that wears us down. We balance family, professions, educations, friends and whatever other demands life seems to insist we have.

With all the distractions of life, is it any wonder that, in our day and age, we are spiritually bankrupt? For some peculiar reason, the more demands that life places on us, the more apt we are to first cut off the source of our life. I have often wondered why it is that God becomes last priority.

I do not think we realize the devastating effects and the potential for sinful behavior that will cripple us, when we take the approach that many of us do in our culture. If we do not daily allow our soul to wait on God, our lives will break down.

The beloved King David knew that without his relationship with God, he couldn’t do it. He knew his protection and salvation stemmed from one and only one source. May we become this wise in our day and age!!!

Father thank You for this day and for the cloud of witnesses that demonstrated a quiet confidence in You. Lord let Your abundant blessings shine from the windows of heaven upon my friend and family today. Lord hush our hearts today we pray, and help us to fix the thoughts of our minds and the meditation of our hearts on You alone and quietly wait in silence for You knowing You are our Rock of Salvation, our Defense and Defender our Lord, our Life, our Way and our All in All. Lord we praise You for being our fortress and that in You we will never be shaken. Lord use my friend to be a blessing that someone needs today.

Father, we love You. Amen !
