Life of Abundant Living

John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬-‭11

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭10‬-‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Wow. What a picture. What a promise. What a purpose. Think about it. Why did Jesus come? Now, there are all kinds of answers that we see in scripture. Ultimately, jesus came to save us from our sin, to reconcile us to God, to glorify the Father through His obedience.

We could go on and on and on through the scripture answering why did Jesus come? Here, in John 10, verse 10, we see this answer. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. Why did Jesus come? He came so that we can have abundant life.

The whole picture here is there’s an adversary who does not want us to have abundant life. He’s come to steal and kill and destroy our lives, but Jesus came to lay down His life for the sheep. He went to the cross. He paid the price for our sin that leads to our destruction. And, He took that destruction upon Himself , and in His sacrifice for us as His sheep, He made abundant life possible for you and me.

Throughout the Church age, many enemies, both physical and spiritual, have sought to steal, kill, and destroy the sheep in Christ's little flock, but we are not to fear for none can pluck us out of His hands. We are all safe in the hands of our Heavenly Father, and the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church. We who are all in Christ have already received the abundance of His life, and one day Christ Jesus will return, as He promised, to take us to be with Himself.

But a time of Great Tribulation, beyond this Church age is coming, when a final and terrible thief will come and try to steal, kill, and destroy both the people of God and His Anointed King. This is the time of Jacob's Trouble when a Christ rejecting sinful world will experience the wrath of God.

We are not appointed to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Good Shepherd Who will take us to the heavenly home He has prepared for all who love Him so that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

So today, if you’re in the middle of a difficult situation, be encouraged. Jesus came to give us a rich and satisfying life. He’s there to walk with you in the midst of difficulty and is to be where you go in tough times. So decide to get closer to God in tough times and let Him show you how rich and satisfying life in Him can be, through an intentional intimate relationship with His Son!!!

Father thank You for this day and for Jesus the Good Shepherd Who laid down His life for us so that we might live with You forever. Lord pour Your abundant blessings out over my friend and family today. Lord thank You that by faith in You, we can have abundant life in You. That You would protect us from all the temptations of the adversary who wants to steal, kill and destroy, who wants to keep us from experiencing all of the life, the abundance that You have designed for us. Lord use my friend to be someone’s blessing today.

Father, we love You. Amen !
