Psalms 20:7
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”
Psalms 20:7 NIV
What a confidence giving, confidence boosting, encouraging verse. You look around at the world, especially here in the USA and you see all kinds of things that you might be tempted to put your trust in, like your job, your income, people around you, even good people that you love that you’re tempted to trust in.
Do you ever feel that things are dependent upon you? It is easy to get to a place where it feels like everything is resting upon us, from our jobs, to daily tasks, and decisions that need to be made. Daily happenings can feel overwhelming, and we can easily start to feel the weight of each one weighing on us.
Let us be challenged to trust God daily and not as much in ourselves. God is the one that grants our heart’s desires and fulfills all our plans. God is the one who sends help. When we trust in Him, we can relax a little more and watch Him at work in our lives and the lives of those around us.
Many, however, trust in the things of this world alone, and refuse to trust in God. They trust in their job to provide the needed finances. They trust their retirement fund to provide during retirement. They trust the police to protect them. They trust the doctor to cure them. Yet, they will not trust in God, because they cannot see Him.
All the things of this world may be good, but they are also temporary. Cars break down, jobs fail, retirement funds crumble, and things change. The only thing that you can fully trust in, with guaranteed assurance, is God.
Reading the other day in Deuteronomy where Moses was recounting how God was leading his people and Moses said, “It wasn’t because we were greater than this other army, it’s because God was fighting for us,” and that’s the whole point. This is why we don’t put our trust in anything in this world because our God is greater than everything in this world.
Our God is the only true reliable ultimate source of trust. Our God is the only one who is worthy of all of our trust, all of our hopes, all of our plans, all of our dreams can be trusted with God. All of our lives, our family, our work, everything we have, everything we are, we can trust God with them. His name is worthy of our trust.
God has always been there and will always be there. He will never fail in anything that He does. Put all of your trust in God. Listen to what He says and follow His lead. It may look like a dead-end path, but God knows what is best. He is the only one who is in absolute control.
Be encouraged today to take a moment and rest knowing that God is the one who can fulfill our plans, grant our heart’s desires, and He is the one that saves us. By trusting God, we find we can enjoy life a little more. The Lord is the solution to our problems today. Not our experiences or anything else in life!!!
Father thank You for this day and the breath of Your Word that sustains it. Lord let Your abundant blessings be my friend and family’s portion today. Lord as we walk into the battle arena of our lives today, bring to mind how You have been with us before so that we may cast that experience over our present reality and face the situation and people knowing we are not alone. Lord remind us that we enter everyday with You, the God Almighty, who sees our circumstances, understands how we feel and will use of every “chariot” and “horse” to create another experience through which we can know You more, and that we would not put our trust in the things that can be washed away, but that we would put our trust in the One who is eternal." Lord use my friend to be the light of Your love to all today.
Father, we love You. Amen !
