1 Peter 5:6-7
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV
What a word, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God. This is a good place to be. It’s a good place to live. Humbly under God’s mighty hand, knowing that when we humble ourselves before God, He will exalt us. What a phrase. So that at the proper time, God may exalt you, God may exalt me. What a picture. It’s what we see all throughout scripture, whoever exalts himself will be humbled. He who humbles himself will be exalted, exalted by who? By God. This is God, our Father who desires to lift us up as we humble ourselves before Him. We live in anxious times. People are experiencing all kinds of challenges, trials, problems, situations and circumstances in their daily lives. With all that is going on in the world right now, it is no surprise that many are fearful and anxious. God tells us in His Word that He hears our cries and rescues us from all our troubles. God calls us to live trusting Him. He is our refuge and strength. In our own strength, we lack sufficient resources and abilities to meet life’s challenges. If we remember that in every circumstance of life, in every time of difficulty, we are not alone and that God is with us, the storms of life will not seems so overwhelming. A spirit of humility is pleasing to the Father, for it is the spirit that is so representative of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ was a man that humbled Himself, in the power of the Holy Spirit, under the mighty hand of the Father, and at the proper time He was lifted up, first on the Cross, and then to His Father's throne, in heavenly places. In like manner, those that meekly take up their cross, in the power of the Spirit, and humble themselves under the mighty hand of God, will grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus so that at the proper time, God will raise them up in to newness of life. And so, let us grow in grace in this world, and then in the world to come, we will be raised up with Christ on His throne. Although things may not be clear to you now, and things may not seem to be working out, God is trustworthy. So don't depend on your own understanding, but trust in God. He knows what He is doing, and He loves you. You will understand better later on. Worrying will never help. Instead of worrying and being anxious, throw all your cares on the Lord. Say this, I need God's help, so I throw all my concerns over on Him, trusting Him to work it all out for the best!!!
