Micah 7:7
“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.”
Micah 7:7 NIV
In so much of the Word of God, we discover the little word “But”. This tiny conjunction joins two thoughts together through stark contrast. Often we read of the foolishness, fretfulness, disobedience, and rebellion of sinful man, but then in contrast we read of the faithfulness, graciousness, and long-suffering of the Lord.
What a cry of hope in the middle of despair. These words encapsulate the challenge that we all experience in waiting. As I read this verse and meditate on it and even say what I’m about to say, I’m speaking to myself as much as anybody else. Amidst a variety of things I’m waiting on during these days, waiting on asking God to do that which he’s not done yet.
In verse 7 he proclaimed that he would wait upon the Lord. Micah knew that God would not only hear his request, but that He would save him too.
This promise isn’t just for Micah, but it is for you and I as well. God will bring you and I through our trial. Micah understood that God was hearing his prayers and at the right time the Lord would save him just as He will for us. Our season might feel corrupt right now, but God is with you. He sees and knows your pain.
Trust that God will give you His strength while waiting. Look to Him for help and wait confidently and expectantly that not only does He hear your prayers and your cries, but that He will answer them too.At just the perfect time, He will deliver you from any pain you might be facing.
As a believer we must trust in the Lord for our salvation. Although it appears as though the world is winning the battle, they will not win the war in the end. There is coming a day when Jesus will return and destroy all sin for eternity.
Knowing this is knowing the blessed hope that you can have in Jesus. As you are watching and waiting for Jesus to save you for all eternity, you can be praying. Let God know what you are feeling and seeing. Pray that God will touch the hearts of many, drawing them to a salvation in Jesus. Pray that God will have mercy on you and all other believers.
As you are watching, waiting and praying, you can know that God will hear your cry. You can know in your heart that you are right with God through Jesus Christ. Do not fear this world or what is happening. God is your Savior.
The tempting enticements towards worldly pursuits, fleshly ways, and ungodly activities are the challenges we all face in a Christ-rejecting, sinful world. As believers we have a choice: To be ruled by the flesh and adopt carnal pursuit. Or to be governed by God and walk in spirit and truth.
As we seek to grow in grace and live godly in Christ Jesus, let us choose to adopt an attitude in stark contrast with the foolish, fretful, disobedient, and rebellious ways of the world. Discover the unfathomable value of that little word “But”.
BUT as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. BUT as for me, I will watch expectantly for the Lord. BUT as for me, I will wait for the God of my salvation and My God will hear me!!!
